Apex Dental Partners announced the impact of its 2026 Share A Smile Project, an annual community service initiative that delivered $290,850 in donated dental care to 253 patients across seven communities in Texas, Oklahoma and Colorado.

More than 250 volunteers and over a dozen sponsors participated in this year’s event, including clinicians, administrative team members, and community partners. Across seven Apex-supported host locations, they helped complete 1,284 dental procedures at no cost to patients.

The value of donated care increased approximately 35% from 2025, when Share A Smile provided $215,000 in free dental services.

“Share A Smile is about using the skills and resources we have as a dental community to make a meaningful difference for people who need care,” said Dr. Layla Lohmann, Co-Founder and Vice President of Clinical Excellence at Apex Dental Partners. “The growth of this initiative reflects the commitment of our team members, the generosity of our community partners who continue to support this work, and Apex’s mission of serving others, changing lives.”

Providing Proactive Patient Care

The Share A Smile Project reflects Apex Dental Partners’ approach to proactive patient care, with an emphasis on prevention, early intervention, education, and treatment based on each patient’s individual needs.

Because Share A Smile is a single-day event, each patient is generally scheduled for one hour of care. Within that time, clinical teams focus on providing as much meaningful treatment as possible while also identifying risks, addressing immediate needs and helping patients understand how to protect their oral health moving forward.

For many patients, Share A Smile may be their only dental visit for an extended period of time, making preventive treatment and patient education especially important. The goal is not only to address what can be treated during the appointment, but also to give patients resources and tools that support their long-term health. This approach reflects Apex’s broader commitment to care built around the values of integrity, excellence, and service.

Depending on each patient’s needs and the resources available at the host location, care may include:

      • Dental exams and X-rays
      • Professional cleanings
      • Fluoride treatments
      • Dental sealants
      • Silver diamine fluoride
      • Oral health education and home-care techniques
      • Fillings and restorative treatment
      • Tooth extractions

Select locations also had specialists and additional resources available, allowing teams to provide more complex treatment when appropriate.

This case is one of several in which Share A Smile support helped extend care beyond the event day, with significant restorative treatment made possible through donated clinical time and materials.

Share A Smile Continues to Grow

Share A Smile has expanded significantly since its first event in 2022, when approximately 50 volunteers served 60 patients across three locations.

In 2026, more than 250 volunteers participated across the Dallas, Fort Worth, Austin, Houston, Midwest City, Tulsa, and Lakewood communities. The program’s growth has also increased the amount of care provided, with donated dental services reaching $290,850 in 2026.

2026 Share A Smile Project Impact

      • $290,850 in donated dental care
      • 253 patients served

Supported by Industry and Community Partners

The Share A Smile Project is made possible through support that extends beyond the volunteers providing care. Vendors, donors, sponsors and community organizations contribute supplies, resources, services and other support that help Apex-supported host practices serve patients throughout the day.

Apex Dental Partners gratefully recognizes the organizations and individuals that supported the 2026 Share A Smile Project, including:

Apex Dental Partners | Dr. Bernard Avendanio| Patterson Dental | Solmetex | Return on Relationship, inc. | Ivoclar | Glidewell | 3M / Solventum | Dandy | Colgate | vVARDIS | Orangetheory Fitness | Young | Apex Gator Dental Arts

Their support, along with contributions from additional local businesses, donors, and community partners, helps provide volunteer teams with the resources needed to expand access to care.

Apex also extends its gratitude to the doctors, hygienists, dental assistants, specialists, and administrative professionals who volunteered their time and expertise. For many volunteers, the opportunity to participate in Share A Smile is also deeply personal:

“Growing up with a single dad, proper dental care was a luxury we couldn’t afford. By my early twenties, I had lost most of my molars and relied on implants to feel whole,” shared Amber, a volunteer at Share a Smile’s Dallas location. “Having lived through that pain and insecurity, my lifelong dream has been to join a mission like this—to be even a small part of giving someone back their smile, their health, and the confidence I once thought I’d lost forever.”

Experiences like Amber’s reflect the personal commitment volunteers bring to Share A Smile and the shared purpose that strengthens the initiative each year.

Apex Dental Partners looks forward to continuing to expand the Share A Smile Project alongside the volunteers, sponsors, donors, and community partners who make the initiative possible.
