Growing with Purpose: How Apex Dental Partners Supported Practices and Communities in 2025

In 2025, our team at Apex Dental Partners continued investing in the people, practices, and communities that define great dentistry. That work was guided by a clear focus on how we grow, how leaders are developed inside practices, and how we show up for the communities we serve.

Throughout the year, we made growth decisions deliberately, with careful attention to timing, fit, and long-term partnership. Our leadership programs continued to deliver measurable outcomes for participating practices, while our support teams spent more time navigating the operational challenges that come with growth.

Thoughtful Growth Across Markets

We approached growth in 2025 with intention, focusing on practice partnerships that fit our long-term view of private practice. Over the course of the year, we onboarded six practices, expanding our presence across several markets, including Texas, Missouri, and Tennessee.

Each transition was planned with continuity in mind. Our goal was to support doctors through ownership change without disrupting patient relationships, team culture, or the identity of the practice itself. That meant taking the time to understand how each practice operated and making sure support was introduced in a way that strengthened the business without changing how care was delivered.

“Growth only works when it’s built on the right foundation,” said David Lohmann, CEO and co-founder of Apex Dental Partners. “For us, that means being intentional about who we partner with and taking the time to find doctors who share our long-term goals and values. Those early decisions matter, not just during a transition, but in how practices operate and grow over time.”

That steady approach to expansion also mattered for the practices already in our network. As we grew, doctors gained access to a broader peer community, creating more opportunities for mentorship, shared learning, and collaboration across markets. Growth at a measured pace also allowed us to continue strengthening shared infrastructure in a way that supports practices over time, reinforcing the value of partnership beyond the initial onboarding period.

Leadership Development in Practice

In 2025, we continued to invest time and resources into leadership development at multiple levels, supporting both clinicians and practice managers as they navigated the responsibilities of team leadership.

The Catalyst Program is our in-house leadership development program for Apex Partners, designed to support the skills required beyond clinical care. The nine-month program focuses on operational performance, business strategy, patient experience, and team leadership, with an emphasis on applying those concepts directly inside the practice. In 2025, eight participating practices completed the program. By the end of the cohort, those practices increased average daily production by 24 percent, representing more than $1.6 million in combined production growth. These results reflected changes implemented in real time, including clearer goals and more confident decision-making at the practice level.

Leadership development also extended beyond doctors alone with Ignite, focused on the development of office managers across the organization. This course focused on structured learning and peer collaboration centered on the business of dentistry, team leadership, hygiene performance, specialty growth, and collections. The program reinforced the role of the office manager as a key driver inside the practice, helping ensure that operational improvements move forward successfully.

We also became an AGD PACE–approved CE provider in 2025, an important milestone that allows us to offer accredited CE programs internally. This designation reflects a long-term investment in education and ensures that doctors and team members can access high-quality development opportunities as part of their ongoing work.

While each of these programs serves a different role, the impact is shared across our entire organization. Leadership development is most meaningful when it translates into clearer direction, stronger teams, and more consistent patient experiences.

Culture and Service in Practice

In 2025, our culture continued to take shape through deliberate choices around how teams showed up for one another, for their practices, and for our communities. One of the clearest examples of that shared culture was Share A Smile Project, our annual day of service. In 2025, the event spanned six cities and brought together more than 170 volunteer dentists, hygienists, and admin professionals. Together, we provided over $215,000 in free dental care, serving nearly 300 patients through exams, cleanings, and treatment.

As Dr. Jarrett Stone, an Apex Partner and Share a Smile volunteer shared, “Share A Smile is a reminder of why many of us went into dentistry. It brings teams together, gives us a chance to serve our communities, and shows what’s possible when everyone is working toward the same mission of service.”

While care is delivered in a single day, the work behind Share A Smile reflects how Apex operates more broadly. Clinical teams, operations, marketing, IT, and development staff all play a role, reinforcing the importance of shared support across independently operated practices.

Carrying Momentum Into 2026

As we look ahead to 2026, the focus is on staying grounded in what worked and continuing to operate with the same discipline and intent that shaped 2025. Growth, leadership development, and practice support will continue, guided by the same standards and expectations practices experienced throughout 2025.

That consistency matters, especially in an industry where change can feel constant. As Apex grows, our commitment to excellence, integrity, and service remains steady. Those values shape how we partner with practices, how we support teams, and how we make decisions that affect patient care and long-term outcomes.

For doctors and leaders considering partnership, the work done in 2025 reflects how Apex operates today. It shows an organization focused on thoughtful growth, investment in people, and long-term support for private practice.
